Steven Karig, M.Ed.

Master Teacher, Science

Steven attended the University of Maryland, earning his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. He has been teaching in Maryland and Washington, D.C. ever since.  With over 11 years of experience teaching all areas of science in grades 6-12 and the distinction of National Board Certification, Steven is excited to continue his work in secondary classrooms while also guiding the teachers of tomorrow as part of the Terrapin Teachers program.  Steven believes science provides people with important knowledge and tools to make sense of the world around them and has the power to transform them into lifelong learners.

Steven's position is unlike other Master Teachers.  He is also currently a full time employee of Montgomery County Public School, where he teaches science at Northwood High School.  Steven will work with TT 60% of the time and spend 40% of his time teaching at Northwood High School.   This is a really remarkable collaboration that brings unique opportunities to TT and our partner schools.
